The NIC is enabled in the BIOS and the NICs enabled and activity indicator LEDs say it's doing something. The 10Gbit network can ping the server but the onboard NIC just refuses to interact with any other device. I tested ALL the cables, switch/router, other clients can ping each other. it shows up on the server re0 I can give it an IP through the console window on the server itself and it'll say I can access the WebUI from that IP. The servers 1Gbit NIC refuses to be recognized on the network. I installed a SYBA SI-PEX40064 (so I could have a total of 8 SATA ports)Īfter all sorts of hardware problems (equipment the college "threw away") I got the 10Gbit network working with SMB.Īs a Proof-of-Concept I would also like to implement a 1Gbit SMB client, an iSCSI client on the 1Gbit network, and demonstrate port forwarding on a router from another network to access SSH/SFTP on the server. Once it is has started on that interface it will then use the subnet mask configured on the interface. Remember with the network command you are simply telling the IGP which interfaces to run. Or any other summary address that covered all the ranges. The ping command will send 4 by default if -n isnt used. This option sets the number of ICMP Echo Requests to send, from 1 to 4294967295. This ping command option will resolve, if possible, the hostname of an IP address target. So you need to ensure that your network statements cover the interface IP. Using this option will ping the target until you force it to stop by using Ctrl+C. You have the same issue because your network statement is covering 172.16.0.0/24. Your network statement is 172.16.0.0 0.0.0.255 which is actually 172.16.0.0/24 which covers neither of R2's serial interfaces. Im able to ping any devices on my network but cannot be pinged, cannot ping my own PC, and loopback address. If you look at your original OSPF outputs you can see that R1 has 3 interfaces in area 0 but R2 and R3 only have one each and this, as pointed out, is because you have configured your network statements incorrectly ie. Once it starts on that interface it will then use the subnet mask associated with that interface in it's advertisement. It is used to tell the routing protocol which interfaces to start the routing protocol on. You can configure the network statement a number of ways but the key thing to understand with IGPs such as RIP/EIGRP/OSPF is the network statement is not used to tell the routing protocol which networks to actually advertise. I cannot ping from endpoint to server and vice versa, but the routers can all ping both interfaces on the others. For the purposes of this thread, R2 = Router1, and R1=Router 0.ġ72.16.0.0/16 is variably subnetted, 5 subnets, 3 masks Not sure if anyone is still checking this thread.
